Privacy Policy

SkillMatch is operated by SkillMatch (Private) Limited, Pakistan ("SkillMatch", "we", "us"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use the SkillMatch website, apps and services, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. By using SkillMatch, you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you give us:

Full name, email address, phone number and address.
Your profile: education, skills, interests, job history and your resume/CV.
Job applications, assessment answers and results, including code you submit.
Anything else you choose to provide when you sign up, apply or take an assessment.

1.2 Information from other services you connect:

Google sign-in: your name, email address and profile picture (see section 4).
GitHub or Facebook sign-in: your name and email address.
LinkedIn, if you connect it to verify your profile: your name, email address, language setting and profile picture.

1.3 Usage data:

IP address, browser type, device type and operating system.
Date and time of access, pages viewed and actions taken on the platform.

1.4 Cookies:

We use cookies to keep you signed in and, through Google Analytics, to understand how the platform is used so we can improve it.

1.5 Assessment proctoring:

When a company turns on proctoring for an assessment you take, we collect, during that assessment only:

Pictures from your camera, taken at intervals during the test. This happens only if the company turned on camera proctoring, and your browser or device asks for your permission to use the camera first.
Whether you left full-screen mode or switched to another tab or window, and how often the mouse left the test window.
Whether more than one screen was connected, your IP address and any changes to it during the test, and your browser, operating system and device type.
In our app, whether you tried to take a screenshot or record the screen during a test. The app blocks screenshots of test questions; it does not take pictures of your screen.

2. How We Use Your Information

To create, secure and manage your account and sign you in.
To show you relevant openings and to send your applications and assessment results to the employers you apply to.
To read your CV and estimate how well it matches a job. We use automated tools, including OpenAI, for this. Employers make their own hiring decisions.
To contact you about your account, applications, assessments and placements.
To show the company that sent an assessment the proctoring signals and camera pictures from it, so it can check that the results are your own work.
To keep the platform safe, prevent fraud and improve our services.
To comply with the law and enforce our Terms and Conditions.

3. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

Employers and recruiters: when you apply for a job or take their assessment, they see your application, CV and results, including the proctoring signals and camera pictures from that assessment.
Service providers who run parts of SkillMatch for us, only for that purpose: MongoDB Atlas (database), Cloudinary (storage for files, CVs and proctoring pictures), OpenAI (CV reading and matching), Vercel and Cloudflare (website hosting and security), Sentry (error and performance monitoring, including recordings of some sessions with text and inputs masked), Google (sign-in, analytics and, for company accounts, Calendar), GitHub and Facebook (sign-in), LinkedIn (profile verification), Stripe (payments) and our email provider.
Authorities, when the law requires it or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

Some of these providers process data outside Pakistan. We only use providers that protect personal data.

4. Google User Data

When you sign in with Google, we receive only your name, email address and profile picture (Google's "email" and "profile" permissions). We use them only to create your SkillMatch account, sign you in and show your name and photo on your profile.

Company accounts can separately connect Google Calendar, which asks for Google's calendar permission. We then store the access tokens Google provides so we can read their calendar events to avoid scheduling conflicts, and create, update and remove the interview events they schedule through SkillMatch. We do not use calendar data for anything else.

We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models. We do not share it with anyone except the service providers in section 3 who help us run SkillMatch, when the law requires it, or with your consent.

SkillMatch's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

You can remove SkillMatch's access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

5. How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep your personal information, including proctoring data and camera pictures, while your account is active. When you ask us to delete your account, we close it straight away and permanently erase your data 14 days later, including data received from Google. During those 14 days you can contact us to cancel the deletion and keep your account. After that, the deletion cannot be undone. We keep only what the law requires us to keep, or what we need to resolve disputes or prevent fraud, and only for as long as needed.

6. Data Security

We protect your information with encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls and secure hosting. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

Access and update your personal information.
Delete your account and your data.
Opt out of marketing communications.
Withdraw your consent at any time.

8. Children's Privacy

Our services are not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page and the "Last Update" date above will change. We encourage you to review this policy regularly.
